Medical Privacy Coalition is a national partnership of organizations concerned about the threat to Americans' fundamental right to protect their medical information. Individual partners of the coalition do not necessarily support anyone particular legal challenge or legislative effort listed on the website. 


Citizens for the "Right to Know"
Take Control of your Heath Care: What to do if there's a problem" is a great resource on how to file a complaint. Citizens for the "Right to Know" is a network of approximately 80 consumer and specific disease organizations with a common need -- access to quality information on health care plans in order to make informed consumer choices.

Families USA -- A Voice for the Health Care Consumer
An exceptional organization dedicated to ensuring patients’ rights. They work to regulate managed care on state and federal levels, monitor issues of Medicaid, Medicare, children's health insurance, and universal health care. This site has great summaries of developments in Congress and thorough information on the Single-Payer Health Care System, an alternative they support. Their mission is to be a watchdog for consumer rights within the healthcare system. Great site, includes Insurance Complaint sites and information on current medical reform.


 Health Administration Responsibility Project 

This organization is dedicated to establishing the liability of managed care organizations for the consequences of their decisions. HARP is a resource for patients, doctors, and attorneys seeking to establish the liability of HMOs, Managed Health Care Organizations, and Nursing Facilities for the consequences of their decisions. They are concerned that in the headlong rush to "Efficient" Medical care, the organizations involved are losing sight of the "Quality" of the care they provide.

How to play HMO hardball teaches patients how to prevent and reverse the wrongful denial of necessary healthcare by HMOs and their doctors. Book contains easy-to-use, fill-in-the-blanks documents that are critical to successful patient appeals, arbitrations and lawsuits.


California Coalition for Ethical Mental Health
Established in 1994 to respond to the abuses of managed care. CCEMHC is a  grassroots organization of mental health care clients and patients, consumer advocates, and professionals from each of the mental health disciplines in California, dedicated to preserving the quality, integrity and confidentiality of mental health care through public and professional education, and through legal and legislative action.
